When asked about reading spiritual texts Amma once said that, if a person wants an object he will enquire about where to find it. From a map he will get directions to go to the place where the object can be found. But he will not get the object unless he actually goes there and fetches it. Likewise, spiritual texts serve as good pointers and spiritual practices serve as the means to attain the highest Truth.
